What is beauty?
For most of us today, when we think of beauty, we probably think of our favorite movie stars, famous models, or TV celebrities.
For example, many people admire Kim Kardashian.
Tastes and preferences have changed throughout history, but Kim Kardashian probably epitomizes today’s “ideal beauty”.
An “ideal beauty” is someone or something that is admired or possesses features widely attributed to beauty and perceptions of perfection in a particular culture.
Beauty can be a characteristic of an object, idea, or place that provides some level of a perceptual sense of pleasure or satisfaction.
Our experience of “beauty” is really our interpretation of how something balances or harmonizes with our evolved sense of what is more likely to lead to our survival as a human species.
Beauty is subjective, as acknowledged in the popular phrase “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”.
Whatever our sense of what constitutes beauty, we are drawn to things which give us feelings of attraction and emotional well-being.
